SKF CRW Series

The SKF CRW Series is a line of high-performance radial shaft seals with a metal outer casing, designed for superior durability and effective sealing under demanding operating conditions. With optimized lip geometry and an advanced elastomer-to-metal interface, these seals are widely used in industrial gearboxes, motors, and machinery where contamination control and lubricant retention are critical.

Technical Properties

SKF CRW Series seals feature a metal outer diameter (OD) and are coated with SKF Bore-Tite, a sealant layer that ensures tight seating even in slightly imperfect bores. The sealing lip is made from nitrile rubber (NBR) or fluoro rubber (FKM) depending on the application, supported by a stainless steel or carbon steel garter spring for consistent radial load. Key technical highlights:
  • Lip Design: CRW seals use a standard or wave lip with optimized contact angle
  • Operating Range: Up to 100°C for NBR and 200°C for FKM versions
  • Speed Compatibility: Suitable for shaft speeds up to 14 m/s (varies with material and size)
  • Bore Fit: ISO and DIN standard compliant

Usage

The SKF CRW Series is ideal for sealing rotating shafts in:
  • Industrial gearboxes and reducers
  • Pumps and compressors
  • Motors and transmission systems
  • Construction and mining equipment
  • General heavy machinery
These seals perform well in environments with moderate to high contamination and are especially useful when metal-to-metal contact is needed for installation security.
